Daily Handwriting Practice is based on the premise that frequent, focused practice leads to mastery and retention of the handwriting forms practiced. Students practice writing letters, words, and sentences. The content is based on important vocabulary words, language skills, and appropriate curriculum topics. Each book is divided into 36 weekly sections. Focused practice is limited to a half-page Monday through Thursday. Friday's practice is a full page that reviews and practices the letter forms and content of the week. During the final four weeks of practice, students make an alphabet book. A full-page chart showing proper, contemporary cursive letter formation is included. Each letter is introduced and practiced before students are asked to use it. Curriculum topics addressed include: the alphabet, capital letters, months of the year, days of the week, geography facts, the seven continents, weather, simple machines, Native American tribes, sports around the world, candy around the world, unusual animals, owls as hunters, whales, the water cycle, synonyms, color words, beavers, famous quotations, math, Kenya, games around the world, math, rhyming words, rivers of the world, world alphabets, nonsense rhymes, alliteration insects, U.S. presidents, unusual plants, rhyming words, and prefixes and suffixes. 112 pages.
